Richard III

A free family boardgame about Richard III and the end of the Wars of the Roses

Back to Garry's Games.

Special Note

My game has been pretty much superseded by GMT Games' Crown of Roses (2012), so I think you should consider purchasing that game. Some friends of mine have noted some suspicious similarities between my own map (from 2002) and that of Crown of Roses, but I just say to them: Well, of course the maps will be similar.

What the game would have been about

Richard III is a family boardgame that you download from this site, and print out the cards and board for yourself. It will roughly cover the period from the death of King Edward IV to the death of the Yorkist pretender, Perkin Warbeck. The result should be like a cross between that old classic Kingmaker and my own Henry VIII game system.

Your input is invited. I have been working on this game since 2001 and have contracted a severe case of writer's block. Frankly, I have no idea when it will be released. When it does happen, I shall post a message on the rec.games.board newsgroup and an item at boardgamegeek.com. And of course, I will contact that inestimable resource, grognard.com. Just search for "Richard III" every few months. Sorry, but that is the best I can offer. Many thanks to all the people who have emailed asking after the game.
